Electrical Tape? Ouch! That would hurt me! The stuff I had was hardly sticky. Thanks guy's and thanks Queen and welcome to the forum. I knew there was something wrong so I have been cleaning it and putting polysporn on it. I never thought of the q-tip idea that'd probably be a lot easier.

I agree with the others for care....it will heal up and the scar will fade with future sheds....EVERYONE makes a mistake now and then....it's ok....all better now...put it in the past and look towards the future....Lyn

I have used neosporine before, it works great. Just use comon sense and avoid your baby's head. Also, about tape.....I have heard of tape being used
to remove retained eyecaps. If you ever do need to use tape, try a piece of scotch tape, and roll it around your finger first, to take off most of the adhesive. then roll the tape over the rought spot, or eyecap.
that way you're not ripping off scales. It works, but I'd leave it as a last resort. It's better to soak anyway.

Just for those people reading this thread I did wrap the tape over my finger and continiously pat my hand to make sure it wasn't sticky so I'm guessing for those people that do use this method you have to be very very careful. I didn't think in a million years that it would do a thing it just wasn't sticky enough. I would never use that method for eyecaps because I thought I was being careful and tested everything on myself first. So yes people who wan't to try it...I would 100% not recommend it.

I would not worry about the dull area of skin. One of my pythons had this happen to her and the spot disappeareed the next shed.

I would advise against anyone using tape on the eyecaps or any sort of force period! If the towel and pillowcase trick doesn't remove any residual caps its time to see a vet. More than one snake has been damaged by an over zealous owner attempting to remove what they THOUGHT was an eyecap only to find that they were trying to rip the lense off of the eye itself.

Im with Merlin all the way on this one. If it dosnt come off itself then get the snake to the vet.

I thought that silvadene was Rx only? We can't buy it around here off the shelf anyways, we have to get a prescription and that stuff is not cheap! I get it at cost and still shy away from having to buy it because there is no way i'll ever use a whole tube before it outdates and its a shame to let it go to waste.

Silvadane is for burns, and yes it is prescription only. Get some Cod Liver oil and dab it a couple times a day on the dry patch. Thats what my vet said to use and I have had success with it.
