water spots on glass>how to get it off?

Hey everybody! I am happy with my geckos aquarium. I have it all set up! The background came today. It looks good, but where I have the aquarium, the background isn't getting the light shined through. The only thing that is bugging me bad is when I spray, the glass gets wet and then gets clouded. I am thinking maybe calcium or something from hard water??? I don't know. I do know that it will not come off! I didn't want to do chemicals like the CLR, but maybe next cleaning I should give it a try and rinse well. It is mainly on the one side, but now since I have the background on it is very noticable. I can barely see the background on some spots. Oh yeah, and since my water is doing this is it harmful to my gecko? I do use distilled in the fountain though. I think I will start to spray with that. Will distilled water cause this to happen? Does this happen to anyone else?

Keep a look out for my pics tomorrow =) I am going to give it a try since I have a FOUR DAY WEEKEND!

I don't know if this is right or wrong but we clean some of our tanks by rubbing table salt on the dirty spots and it removed the spots. Of course we rinsed the tanks with water after. Made sure that they were well dried out before using them. More often I'm wrong then right though. lol

I believe it's the percentage of limestone in the water.
Here in Portugal we use the term "hard water" for water rich in dissolved minerals, specially limestone which leaves that white residue behind.

To get rid of it you can either mist with bottled water or pre-treat the water, using a filter or a chemical.

Or the simplest way is to wipe down the glass after misting the tank. For spots that are currently there try wiping them down with a little vinegar.

You can also try baking soda on a wet cloth. Rub it in and then rinse it off. I find the best glass cleaner is the miracle cloth you can buy most places like Wal Mart. Just have a wet one to wash with using only water and a dry one for drying. I find I don't need anything else now and I have extremely hard water!
