Whats the difference between Leos - Banded Geckos
What is the difference between a Leopard Gecko and a California Banded Gecko. I ask because the Leopard Geckos a pet store in my area are selling look alot like the pictures I've seen of Banded Geckos, which look like banded Leopard Geckos. Are they a different phase?

From what I understand, banded geckos (Coleonyx variegatus) are from the USA and Leopard geckos (Eublepharis macularius) are from western India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Banded geckos don't get nearly as big as Leopard geckos and as far as I know there are very few morphs of banded geckos.

Yeah, Beth and Brittone are right. Leopard geckos and banded geckos are in the same family (Eublepharidae), which is why they look so similar. These geckos lack clingy toe pads, but have movable eyelids. They are in two seperate genera though, and are completely different species, as Beth pointed out. They're also seperated geographically, as she again pointed out. Banded geckos stay at around 3 inches long when full grown, and have smooth soft skin. Leopard geckos have rough bumpy skin and can max out at a foot in length.
Here's an adult banded gecko: http://animals.timduru.org/dirlist/g...edGecko_01.jpg Here are some juvenile leopard geckos, which look similar: http://www.reptilecare.com/hatchlings99.JPG but here is an adult standard leopard gecko, though they come in many morphs: http://teachersnetwork.org/dcs/critter/gecko.jpg
