Advice needed with experiment.

Hey folks. want some advice here.
My Bearded Dragon looks gravid with her 3rd clutch..... 1st clutch was 21 viable eggs on the 26th march. 2nd clutch 16 viable eggs on the 20 april. All eggs incubating nicely.
Now i'm in 2 minds on this clutch.
I was thinking of letting her lay her eggs in her temp controled laying box and leaving them there to try and hatch them as close as I can as to how they would in the wild.
i know that way i'm nearly certain to lose some but feel the rest will be really strong babies.
Anyone tried this? What.s your thoughts?
Feel free to post all comments.

Hello,

I have considered doing that with some of my leo eggs, but never actually set it up. If you are ok with losing all of the eggs, go for it. (I am not saying you will lose them all, but it could happen!)

If you decide to go through with it, keep us posted. It would be interesting to see how everything pans out.

Would you be restricting access to the box once the eggs are deposited or will you allow the female to go in and out? She may unknowingly crush the eggs if she has free reign to come and go.

Yeah I've no problem losing the whole clutch. Got enough eggs ready to hatch. Don't want to freeze them though. That seems sorta cruel to me.
The laying box is a spare 3ft aquarium filled with a peat and sand mix with heat pads and thermostat I use to put Zeek in so she can lay in peace. So she will be out of it completely after she lays
Just thought it would sort of emulate what happens in the wild.
Will let you know what I decide and keep you posted.
Anyone else any comments?

Hey Andy, I have never seen or heard it done before, but it sure would be facinating to try. I dont think its impossible either. If you can keep the temps at a constant temp and the substrate and humidity good I think you will some success...

Definitely keep us posted..
