Coachwhip/Red Racer baby food.
Hey I found my first red racer of the season in my parents yard just under the deck. Its about 10in long and 1/4" thick. What would make a good meal for it?

frozen mice of the appropriate size would work...but it being a wild animal...i'll go ahead and get my opinion out of the way.
I dont believe in taking an animal from it's natural habitat and forcing it to remain in a cage while you may or may not be able to meet the needs it could have while if it was back outside, it could live life naturally. It's your decision above all but do try and think of how you would feel if it were you being taken from your home. i'm not against taking a few adults for captive breeding purposes (after all, how would else we have captive bred herps?) but your not breeding in this case either.

Seeing as it's wild I HIGHLY doubt it will take f/t as the first feeding. Unless you are using a really long pair of hemostats or the like, it will be nervous of the presence of your appendage.
Why is this in the venomous section?

Its the first *General* I saw. And its way too small for baby mice. When my dad starts the mower up today I think the snake is going to be a little bit happy. those blades are sharp sharp sharp.
