msh, how many times have you gone to a grocery store and asked where something is to find the employee can't give you an exact location?
or seen something out of stock thier and wonder why its not stocked?
emplyoees rarly know all thier is to know about the store. most companys these days are only interested in making money so they pay employees low wages and that results in the employees not careing enough about the job to make an effort to become as knowledgeable about it as possible.
a car dealership I woulden't include in these statements. the employees make more money, earn commisions, and sometimes have a quota to meet. so yes, they will want to know aboput the cars since they want to sell them, plus, the more they work, the more they sell, the more money they make. unlike in a grocery store/hardware store/pet shop where the employees often earn minimum wage, have crappy (if any) benifits, and earn no commisions, and no matter how hard the employee works, he'll still get the same pay as the slow guy working next to him (or less then him if the slow guy has been in the company alot longer)
who more likely to work harder?
1. a 25 year old working part-time at a grocery store for $5.50 an hour, inside all day stocking shelves, making $150 or so a week
2. a 25 year old working full-time at a grocery store for $8 an hour, inside all day stocking shelves, making $260
3. a 25 year old working full-time in a dealership, is outside in the fresh air selling many cars a week, making $5k-$10k a week
obviously the dealership guy. heck, if working harder meant instant money, i'd be working my butt off to.
