Well I've been cleaning out the cage with bleach solution I'm soaking the snake as we speak though I couldn't find any Prevent-A-Mite or Reptile Relief anywhere in my town and as luck would have it the petstore is closed today and I was going to buy some Mite guard. So, this leaves me with waiting till tomorrow before I can put anything on the poor little guy. I vacuumed with the moth balls like the article says to and am dealing with the enclosure which I think I'll have to do a lot.

Ok, I just check some of my other snakes and lizards, even the crested gecko I got from the same place and none of them show any signs of having mites so that's good.

You don't really need to spray any chemicals onto your animals. Put them in a container with a little bit of water and most of the mites will drown eventually.
Also if you keep him in a plastic box with just the basics and change the box with a fresh one every day for a week or so, that should take care of the mites on the snake. The mites crawl off the snake after a bloodmeal to mate and lay eggs, so after a short time of daily soakings and daily box changes, there won't be any mites left.
You then just have to make sure that you've gotten all the mites and eggs in and around the terrarium (BTW: bleach won't kill the eggs -- but Mite guard will probably work for that. Just be sure you've rinsed out all the bleach or chemicals and aired out the tank well before you put your animal back inside.

Mites are a hassle, but they can be defeated... Keep checking your other herps, though... mites tend to spread. They can walk far and they can "hitch-hike" on you or other animals to get around the house. So don't relax too soon.
Good luck.

Man mites suck. I personally dont use the Provent-a-mite. I use the much cheeper equlivant equate bedding spray sold at wal-mart in the pharmacy department. It has the same active ingredient at the same strenght. The only thing it lacks is instructions for treating your snakes cage for mites. You use it just like the Provent-a-mite you remove the snake from the enclousure remove the bedding and clean the cage. Add new bedding then spay the new bedding with the spray. Allow bedding to dry COMPLETLY then you can put you snake back in the cage. It is Like $3 a can instead of the $17 you pay for Provent-a-mite. Here are a comparasion shot of the two

Provent-a-mite

equate Bedding Spray

here is a little discussion on it in the bob clark forums also

JUST REMBER DO NOT SPAY THIS DIRECTLY ON YOUR SNAKE. Take your snake and put him in a rubbermaid tub with luke warm water just enough to cover the snakes back with just a tad bit of soap and let it soak for 6-8 hours this will drown the mites on the snake and the equate will take care of all in the cage. Mites are no fun but not that hard to get rid of.

I went into the city today to go with my husband to the petstore we got the snake from and talk to him about it. He had a couple new suriname red tails in there that were in good health so he traded with us for a different one. SO, now that he is dealing with the dehydration, anemia and all the other problems the other snake had, I still have to deal with the mites. I'm going to bleach the cage out and rinse again and then spray some reptile relief in the cage and then rinse and let air out then intruduce the new snake to the cage after a good long soak. The snake looks like he's close to shed because it's eyes are completely grey right now so I'll probably hold off on using the Reptile relief on him.

Thanks for all the help guys. Oh yeah, any more tips on keeping them from spreading to my other herps?

You can take two sided tape and encircle your tanks so that any mites that attempt to climb in get stuck. Completely change clothes and thoroughly wash your hands and forearms before dealing with the non infected cages after working with the infected one.
And keep your eyes peeled. Mites seem to be born pregnant and it only takes one to start it all over again.
Dratted buggers!
