She has a very strong grip
My M.black kingsnake bites a lot. It's not quick snap but grap and start pulling and twisting, it doesn't hurt, unless she gets between finger
and thumb, even then the main thing is that it's annoying to get her off and I really hate her doing this esp as I love her to bits. shes about 2ft long + give her 1 small mouse evey 6-7 days tried feeding her more but most I can give her is a fluff and she dont always take it any more she eats less if at all the next wk, and she still bitehold her evey day apart from after feed, i support her whole body dont let her twist herself she is so lovely and if I can stop her getting a grip shes find until she tries again . i don't know what to do and I love her so much. i have taken any advice I can get nothings changed help!! |

This sounds like a feeding response. Do you have other pets that you have handled before handling the snake?
Try washing your hands well before handling and see if it helps.

Do you feed her in the tank? She might possibly reconize that its feeding time every time you open the lid and want food. If you do feed her in her tank then take her out and put her in a large box or plastic box and put the food in with her.

in relation to my first problem, in general about how much on average should M.blacks be fed compared to size (some people, all know nothing about snakes, say shes fat others too thin etc) just like to clear this up

Feed a rodent about the size or a touch bigger of the snakes body at the widest part. After feeding you should be able to see a noticable lump. If you can't see the lump next feeding increase the size.
And when you get ready to handle the snake take and wipe your hands down with a bit of rubbing alcohol first to change your scent. Also have a cotton ball with a bit of alcohol on it and when the snake latches on to you put it up to its nostrils.
