What I do is get an umbrella plant (or two depending on its size/ the size of the cage) and dig out about an inch or inch and a half of soil all the way around the pot. Then I get the all natural Super Soil that is in a brown bag and fill that up to where the brim of the pot is and then pack it down a bit, but not so much that it is really hard. Then I rinse off the plant really well and water the plant and leave it out for a day or two in the sun. Then I put it in the chameleons cage. If you are wondering about other things you can do for the plant go to www.chameleonsonly.com and it has a area that tells you how to clean a plant in detail.

I havent ever heard of using Aloe plants. The link I gave you ( www.chameleonsonly.com ) should have a safe plant list available. If its not on there I would risk it. But I have had the best luck with using the umbrella plants. When you spray the cage the water stays on the leaves, and the chams also seem to like to much on it

Also, what the stores probably use to call the umbrella plants is Schefflara, I think they are the same plants but I'm not 100%
