What size??
Roughly what size should a 6/7 month old iguana be?
I have followed everyones advice but I still think he's a bit on the small size. He is about 5/6 inches snout to vent length. I feed him spring greens, bell peppers, grapes, strawberries, cherries, sugar snap peas, spring onions, carrot and any other veg I can get except spinach and kale for obvious reasons. He gets nutrobal supplement 3 times a week. He has a 8% zoo-med tube and his temps are 100 at basking spot, 95 on warm side and 75 on cool side. If he is on the small side I don't know what i'm doing wrong.

Hello,
Size is really depictive of the diet/husbandry that the iguana is receiving in addition to the iguanas anatomy. There is no true set length or size that the iguana will/should be at any particular age. How old is the light and do you offer collards or any other greens? Kale can also be used btw. 3 times a week would be fine. |

the IC caresheet has a lot about the iguana diet. I feed collard or turnip greens, bell pepper, yellow and zuccini squash, and mango on occassion. "spring greens" i have heard that name before. I used to use "spring mix" for my beardy until I found out it was completely useless nutritionwise. It's mainly lettuce anyways. if this is the same product i'd nix it and use turnip, mustard or collard greens. Every week I get a bag (cant remember the brand name) of one of these greens (different one every week) which come in a bag already prewashed and chopped.
Hope this helps

We feed our bearded dragons spring greens or fresh greens - i was told by someone that its basically our version of collard greens.
I'm no ig expert, but regarding any species of reptile - average sizes are branded about, but remember they are average. Individuals may grow to different sizes and will grow at different rates. We have a male common boa that exceeds the "average" size for a male of his species, and many of our other species have grown at different rates even when fed and housed the same., I like to think of them in terms of humans - we all grow at different speeds and to different sizes. Take me - I seemed to stop growing when I was 10 ![]()

Agreed Rachel... If you take our Leopard Geckos, for example, we have adults ranging in weight from 40(post-breeding) to 80+ grams. The very best example would be our two Trempers -- one is our largest adult female (Astryd, and she's a MONSTER) and the other (Ellisif) is a petite little thing. They're both full-grown, and both healthy -- probably just a matter of individual genetics.

Thanks for that put my mind at ease a bit. I do feed spring greens which are supposed to be the UKs collard greens but thats the only greens we really get except lettuce.
The light is only 3 months old.

Kirsty, why not try posting a pic or two of him with something for a size comparison? Maybe pics of his enclosure too, that could help the crew here really tell you if there's any other adjustments you might want to make. Just a thought, in case you still have concerns.
