Inside Jacks throat is white...
Is this normal? I just got finished feeding Jack (male chinese water dragon) he ate some squash and sweet potato. usually after hes done eating in the mornings he will open his mouth really wide like hes yawning or stretching or whatever and he will do it a couple of times... well today when he did it I noticed on the sides of his throat alot of white, Im not sure if its something to worry about because ive never noticed it, when e opens his mouth like this I look at his teeth and gums becase he had bad mothrot before...it almost looks like strep throat..his tongue is nice and pink and hes been eating/ going to the bathroom normally...temps are 84/89 rite now and humidity is 75%...I have him on paper towels...Im going to call my vet on tuesday..do you think its ohk to wait until tuesday or should I call his emergency number? I tried to get some pics but he wouldnt hold his mouth open long enough for me to and when I held it open he only let me for a couple of seconds..Ill try to get some pics but you know how they can be

Is there any of the white spots on his gums or is it mainly in the throat..I was thinking it could be Stomititis (mouthrot) but that is usually on the gums in whitish yellow blotches.

Its only in his throat, he had mouth rot really bad before even though he was getting treated for it the antibiotics just wernt strong enough so I took the buggar back to the vet and that took care of it.I noticed that its more white on the left side then the right...I gave up on trying to get pics

Sometimes the inside of a reptiles mouth can be white due to either stress, fear or illness. When it's caused by stress or fear the inside of the mouth will return to a nice pink when the fear or stress have lessened. When it's illness that is causing the paleness you need to figure out the source. If the back of the throat is whiter on one side than the other it does sound like it could be mouthrot or perhaps a fungal type of infection. I think it's back to the vets for Jack.

Jack has been put on another round of antibiotics...his moutrot has returned...The vet said that it must not have fully cleared up before..and I feel so horrible for my Jack!! But the vet said that it wasnt my fault it was his own when really it wasnt, I should be payingcloser attention to the inside of his mouth, since I know he had it before..but yeah...lets hope that it FULLY clears up this time! The weird thing is last time he had a major appetite decrease, where this time hes been acting perfectly normal! I know that we get worried when our herps dont eat but honestly its one of the best ways they can let us know that somethign isnt rite..well please wish the best for pumpkin jack!

Ohk, I fed Jack a fuzzie about 2 hours ago and noticed that his mouth seems to be getting worse rather then better, before his gums wernt swollen but now I can hardly see the monsters teeth...any ideas as to how I can reduce the swelling? It took him a good 20 mins to eat the fuzzy..usually its gone in under a min so I know hes sore, he tried to eat some mealies but as soon as he tried to bite into it he dropped it and held his mouth open

Poor guy! I feel so bad for him. I can't think of anything aside from make sure he get's enough water and give him something to slush around his mouth to clean it out. I heard apples are good for people when they don't have access to a toothbrush, maybe that would help (the things I learned while I was in modeling lol)? I'm not sure what kinda stuff they eat or if they just eat meat.
