Emerald Swift Babies
I wasn't quite sure where to stick this thread but HELP seemed like a good catagory.
Our two Emerald Swifts at the pet store where I work are now the proud parents of SIX babies . Unfortunately my co-workers and I, though excited, are at something of a loss as to what we need to do for them. Does anyone know the proper care for such young lizards? What they eat, if they should stay with mom and dad, etc.? ~CW |

Hello,
Welcome to HC! I hope you find the site useful. We have a caresheet on Emerald Swifts located here: http://70.86.92.77/showthread.php?t=2730 It doesn't state much in regards to breeding because I never bred them. If I did though, I would place the babies in individual enclosures. I would care for them exactly like I did for the parents, except on a smaller scale. Keep the substrate very simple. Paper towels would be ideal. I would keep the temperatures a few degrees warmer as well. It seems that slightly increased temperatures works well for hatchlings of many species. The babies should be able to get within 8 inches of the UV lighting. If you are using Mercury Vapors for lighting, follow whatever the manufacturer suggests. My recomendation is for tube lighting like the Reptisun series. I hope this helps. |

Welcome to Herpcenter CW...Here is a care sheet regarding Emerald Swifts...
http://70.86.92.77/showthread.php?t=2730 As far as the babies, I would most likely serperate them from the parents, they may be seen as small pray and eatin by mistake.
