I'm new at this and would like to be able to tell whether my uro is a male or a female but I have no idea how to go about it. Would somebody please fill me in?

How old is it? When they're young its pretty tough. As adults though, males have enlarged femoral and pre-anal pores. Both sexes have pores above the cloaca and along the femur, but they're enlarged in males. Males will also have a hemipenal bulge. A bulge at the base of the tail, whereas females do not.

Well, I don't know what a cloaca is [could you fill me in?] but the rest of it definitely indicated that my so-called male lizard Shadwell is actually a female. Most decidedly female. I have renamed her, she is now Dream. With my new-found Herp Centre knowledge I can say:

How old is she? Males usually don't show the enlarged pores until they grow up. And cloaca = butt

If its an adult it should be easy to tell with a nigerian, and orange male will have an orange belly with black stripes. females have white,tan,or cream bellies with either no stripes or light grey stripes.
