Fire bellied toad is to skinny

Hi. I am trying to find out what I can feed my fire-bellied toad to fatten him up some. He just looks to skinny to me. I only want to put alittle weight on him not to much. I feed him 3-4 crickets every 3-4 days sometimes alittle longer if the crickets have grown alittle big, maybe every five days. I have just added small feeder guppies and feeder shrimp to his tank and raised the water up to 4 inches. He doesn't seem to care about the fish or shrimp at all. Can I feed him worms and if so what are the best for him? I want something that he can eat and digest good. Also alittle off topic but I want to know the same for a african clawed frog, he too does not want the fish or shrimp and really doesn't like the pellets for him. Thank you in advance,
Cheryl

For the fire-bellied toad, you can try to fatten him up a little bit with the occasional waxworm. The rule of keeping the prey to the size of the space between your frog's eyes does not apply with soft bodied worms like these. If you do decide to try the waxies, I wouldn't give him more than 1 or 2 a week, don't want him to become addicted or obese. Silkworms are also another option. Silkworm Farms sells trial size silkie kits that come with food for the worms too. I'd stick with the juvenile size if you go that route, and these can also be fed as a staple if your frog accepts them. Sometimes they can be quite picky, so I'm not sure which way will work best for you, guess it'll just have to be a trial and error sort of thing.

As for that ACF, maybe try frozen bloodworms or freeze dried brine shrimp to entice that one to eat. I never had problems with any of mine being underweight or picky eaters. They loved the brine shrimp. Good luck with both, hope this helps you out.

I also feed my ACF gutloaded crickets as her staple. She gets krill, mealworms, earthworms, fish, and the occasional pinkie mouse as a treat too, but she mostly eats crickets.

the feeder shrimp may be a little to rough to digest for a small firebelly. Add a few small waxworms to the diet every other feeding for a while, he'll fatten right up for you in no time.

Thank you for responding. I will try to feed what you's have said. As far as the feeder shrimps he will not touch them although he does chase around the fish. Can I just leave the shrimp in his tank? I am afraid of them. The way that they jump just freak me out. When I clean his tank I will just dump them down the drain.
