OK just s few more questions from the new Leo mama...
feeder insects.
I read that when getting them from the pet store that you should feed them for a few days before giving them to your pet, because they don't stay in the pet store long enough to eat much. Is this ok for food until they are ready to go to the Leo? I have them in a plastic lided container with holes. I put in a potato slice, a carrot, some baby banana food and some of the dead vitamin stocked flies that I had bought for the anole we had. I figured, protien. This sound ok? I also got some meal worms. However, they escape the bowl I put them in. I'm not sure anything WOULD keep them in because I even caught one slinking it's way up the side of the tank. It seems so far that the leo prefers the crickets to the mealies though. Is that ok? |

What the store is talking about is called gut loading your feeders. You can use veggies you listed, they also sell cricket food for gut loading. If you dont want the mealies to escape you can try feeding your leo in a seperate container.

Alot of places that sell feeders have food in with them so if the store you got them from was offering them greens or cricket gut load then they are already gutloaded... There is a bowl made just for mealies, that they cant escape from. If you have a petsmart in your area they carry them, or dont mind ordering online, i know that LLLReptile carries them...
here is a link to it: http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/...rra-worm-dish/ |
