I have an old fish tank in my attic and I'm thinking of putting a reptile in it any thoughts on what type?

That's a pretty small tank for most species. A single Leo is a possibility but I would go at least a 20 gal. Possibly a fire-bellied toad ?

OFBT to get even more specific. There are at least 4 or 5 species of fire-bellied toad, but the vast majority in pet stores are oriental fire bellied toads (Bombina orientalis). OFBTs are best kept in small groups though, they feel safety in numbers. You could probably fit 2-3 toads in a 10 gallon, which would be better than 1, but a 20 gal would be better.

You could also fit a single anole or house gecko in a tank that size. The care of both is about the same, only the gecko is nocturnal and therefore requires no UVB lighting. Neither are good for handling though, and both are very fast and nervous. A long-tailed grass lizard would also fit in a 10 gallon. Other amphibians you could put in there include a single green tree frog, a grey tree frog, or a newt, but not all together of course. For all these species though, make sure your former fishtank has a screen lid.
