I would advise leaving him alone for a week, no handling, no peeking in on him, nothing. Imagine that you thought you were safely hidden and some big thing jerked the roof off of your bedroom! Give him a bit to settle in and then go with Andrea's feeding tips.
And keep us up to date. ![]()

Thank you all,
I took your advice and left the snake alone for a week. I made sure that he would have plenty of water and a hiding spot, I had a fogger that would run every couple of days to raise his humidity levels. I also put a thawed mouse in there and made sure that it was warm. It took about two days, but he finally eat. Since then he has eaten for a second time and he is now going into his sencond shed. Still have not gotten a digital camera, as soon as I do, I will submit his pics. Thank you Troy |

Congratulations!! What a great feeling when they finally decide to eat for you!
Rainbows are known for being good eaters, so you're probably over the worst part- getting him started. Hopefully he'll continue to eat regularly from now on. Can't wait to see pics!

Thats great! Sounds like he just needed some settling in time. It should be easier to feed from this point.

Yay, my old Brazilian Rainbow Boa took a couple weeks to settle in and eat, but since then, there was no stopping him. And you probably don't even need a fogger for him if he's in a plastic Rubbermaid box as long as you make a wetbox. I think you said you used paper towels, but I had better luck with going to a craft or hobby store like Hobby Lobby or Michaels and getting some sphagnum moss. Run a handful of it under some water (I use the on tap Pur water filter to make sure it gets rid of most of the yuckies in the local water, as well as using filtered water for me and all my pets' drinking water) and ring it out so it's damp but not wet. Smaug used to love his cool side wet box and would hang out there most of the time. Just check for mold and fuzzies every so often and replace.
