I would think that it's ok to use it.In the wild, they sometimes have sunny days and then there's cloudy days where it's darker.Shouldn't bother Fletcher,I don't think so.I too have a daylight lamp for my babies.I think it's great.<let's hear what the others say.

It's ok to use it as long as the snake has a dark place to hide. however it is not necessary and a cheaper household bulb will work just as well. Snakes don't require UV light

Hello,
I am with merlin. You CAN use it, might as well since you have it, but regular bulbs are fine. Regardless as to which light you use, there should be an escape anyways. The snake will most likely hide most of the time anyways. The repti glo tubes have such a low output that it is almost useless unless the snake would/could get within 12 inches or closer. (Closer if it were actually required for the species. The 2.0 is for low level UV requirements, and low it is!) |

Yes I'm with the others.. you can use it since you have it, but you must provide hiding space away from it as snakes do not need UV, and a normal bulb is better and cheaper. A UV bulb won't give off heat like a normal bulb though, so if you are using it as a heat source it may not be enough. If you are using it as only a light source then fine.

I keep a red bulb in my lamps all the time...the snakes get their "daylight" from the light in the room....so their days and nights follow the same pattern as ours. Lights on for us is lights on for them, lights out for us is lights out for them...although I still think they *must* be able to see that red light to some degree, even though the bulb manufacturer claims they can't...

Just as long as you make sure they have a day/night cicle of 12/12 hours.I use something that automatically turns on the lights at the same time every day and after 12 hours turns it off again.Sorry, but my English knowledge is leaving me there, but you know what I mean
