I have med for my water dragons mouthrot...i have to give it to em twice a day, and immediatley affter give em 4cc of water..now this isnt easy, and its really stressing them out, having threir mouths opened up and a syrenge stuck down their throats... and the vet gave me a liquid type food fo me to squirt down their throats if they dont eat..but thankfully both of em are eating fairly well, so I guess what im getting at is does anyone know of an easier and less stressful way to open their mouths?? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Hmm, not that I can think of The only way I can think to get the stuff down their throats is to either pry or pull their mouths open.

the med is called gentocin cocktail and it was just starting to turn their teeth brown and there was some swelling and loss of appetite..but swellings gone and they r eating fairly well, yeah..and they hate having heir mouths pryed open..ive found if I put a drop on the end of their snots they lick it up..them I give em the rest while there mouths r open

For my Leopard Geckos the easiest way I found was to hold them in my left hand and the syringe in my right. Then nudge upwards on the top part of the mouth that was closest to me. After a few seconds they try to lick it and the mouth would open up just enough for me to squirt the medicine in. It works well, but you have to be very quick. And it didn't seem to stress them out to much.

Its also easier since water dragons are squirmy, you can either wrap the body in a towel or you can have someone hold it for you, while you give the meds. The easiest way to get the mouths open for me is to use a thin piece of card board and put it to their lips, they will generally open up and then you can put in the syringe with out stress.

I use a credit card to gently pry open the mouths on my iguanas, does the syringe have a rubber tube on the end of it? I put a little rubber tubing (about 3 inches) on the end of the syringe so that if they bit down on the end of it they wouldn't damage their teeth on the hard plastic.
