Is the soil coco-husk? Since your now introducing this much moisture the substrate will go through cycles as it tries to reach an equilibrium, the mold is usually the first step. I haven't gotten it in any of my new cages but I do get it in my crix cage that has a peat substrate, you could try adding some leaf litter which should keep that mold from forming.

I was suggesting the leaf litter to cover the hummus as the mold is more than likely photosynthetic, so if you block the light you should block the growth. You could maybe cover it with aspen. This is why I set up more permanant enclosures, so that I don't have to go through the 'blooms and outbreaks.'

If you are using tap water in the fogger it may also be residual mineral dust from the water. When I run my home humidifier using tap water it leaves white powder everywhere!

Yes, our water is full of minerals too....if I even mist a little with a mister bottle, it leaves white powder wherever the water dries.
