Well, maybe bad news, but hard to say: last night while me and my boyfriend were searching under the couch and recliner, the lights flickered on and off about three times. I am now really worried that he got electrocuted or something somewhere. However, I had set up a 10 gallon aquarium on the floor with a slide top open just a tiny bit with a live mouse. I also put a undertank heater under part of it to make it nice and warm (the mouse seemed to appreciate it too). This morning, the mouse was gone and the screen top was moved a little bit (I put about 5 lbs of weight on the screen cage top). So I guess the mouse *could* have escaped but I am not sure how it could have moved the cage top as much as it did. Hmmmm....

I think the mouse could have probably squeezed through, even if the opening was very very small...I've seen rodents squeeze themselves practically flat in order to fit through tiny little spaces...it's rather incredible to see.

I'm keeping all my fingers crossed for Smaug's safe return...I know what you're feeling...I thought I'd lose my mind with worry when Ky-Lin was gone. I'm really hoping for a happy ending for you too.

This is true, as my two female rats who are sisters were incredible escape artists. I bought a supposedly rat appropriate cage and they were very adept at getting through the bars. I finally had to buy a long bird cage designed for lovebirds, parakeets, or canaries because I was tired of finding them in my utility drawer in my kitchen after one of their escapades.

Nope, I have moved about half my stuff out of my apartment (including all major furniture) and found no sign of him. I've tried just about every trick I've heard. One of my grad school friends is a herpetologist and has 12+ herps in his apartment (7 jungle carpets) and he recommended tieing a string around the tail of a dead mouse and leaving it attached to something solid. That didn't work either cause I've left out about 4 or 5 dead mice and not one has been taken. I guess the best I can probably do is tell the guy who is moving in after me to watch out for him and that I will come get him immediately if he finds him.
