driftwood?
Hi All!
does anyone have an opinion on using African Savannah drift wood in a terrarium? it is a solid wood and rather heavy. it is expensive but it had nice shape and hollows a lizard could hide in. I would probably either soak it in water with a bit of bleach or boil it. TIA |

I'd be nervous using bleach as it would absorb into the wood. Putting in ti the oven for a few hours at low temps might be a better option.

Magik, African Driftwood is a very beautiful and functional wood I have used it a few times in my Vivariums I wouldnt use bleach like Ken said though I always boil my wood then "roast" it in my fireplace like a marshmallow
before using it here is a preety good site to get some that's not too expensive http://www.1driftwoodsupplier.com/index.htmGood Luck ![]()

Thank you for the Link deltro! I put it in my Favorites And will probably use them in the future.
I won't use bleach but I will boil it then bake it for awhile. I'll have to scrub it too it has "hair like" debris all over it. There is one piece there I think I will go back for, it was a neat shape and had places for the lizards to climb through and hide but still be visible to watch. I could really use some ideas for the background I am attempting to come up with a beautiful display with wood rock and a water feature, If anyone has links to some terrarium pics that would be great! |
