new and full of questions!
Hi all!
I am considering turning my 90 gal FW tank into a Herp habitat and have been doing some research on Tree frogs and a few lizards. I have read that long tailed grass lizards or house ghekos can be housed with Green Tree frogs. I wonder if it is wise to house small lizards with GTFs at all and if it was possible in a 90 gal? My plan for the 90 was a rock background/full back waterfall, using my canister filter as the pump (it also has a built in heater) I would have the water run to one end of the tank into a pond area which contains a fogger. I would like to have live plants and vines inside for hiding and decor as well as drift wood and rock formations. I would also like to add some mosses to the waterfall back. I still am only in the research phase and I am planning on taking my sweet time on planning, set up and decision of exactly which Herp species I want to add. All Info, Advice and links are more than welcome! TIA! ![]() |

Hey Magik,
I posted a thread here some time ago about housing a few different species of herps in a single Vivarium I believe it was titled herp community you should chcek it out. This is VERY difficult and requires tons of research and planning even though two herps may be house together without conflict thier different needs may clash a 90 gallon would be great for tree frogs, a few fish and maybey a couple of small lizards you also want to make sure theyre diet are the similar. Chronicfatigue and myself are really into natural herp vivariums so PM us anytime!

Thanks deltro star!
I plan on doing LOTS of research, I always do before venturing into anything, I was researching Reef tanks but I just don't have the funds for that kind of set up and quite frankly I am bored with Fish keeping (for now ) I don't think I would keep fish in my set up but Tree frogs and geckos are my faves. I also have an empty 30gal a 29 and a 10 so I have some options still. I may just start out small with species only set ups to get some experience. I have Firebelly toads right now and as a teen I had Anoles. I would like to set up my 29 tall for a Red eye TF habitat as well. LOL my Husband is going to be so thrilled with me ![]() 3 kids, cats, dogs, and now Herps! LMAO! |
