Re. your corn,. is it quite young? It's perfectly fine for it to be in shed again. Young snakes tend to shed approx. every four weeks, but ofcourse this can vary due to feeding, growth spurts etc. Older and larger snakes tend to shed much less often, but even our boa, Charley, who is 8ft and around ?5 years old, and our carpet python, Monty, who is around 8.5ft and about ?6 years old, still shed every 4-6 feeds which is around every 8-12 weeks.
Re. your Brazilian Rainbow Boa, it's absolutely normal for it to poop in its hide, nothing to do with your set up. Some snakes just prefer to poo in certain places, although with most of our snakes I haven't noticed a consistent poop area, as with something like leo geckos who always go in the same place. If you really want you can try and move the hide and rearrange things slightly to see if he still poops in the same area of the cage but not in the hide, but its not something that's unusual or cause for concern.

Hi Skullman
I agree with Rachel... shedding times seem to vary quite a bit sometimes. Also I've heard snakes will shed several times in rapid succession if they have an injury or parasites. Talyn seems to always leave her hide to urinate or defecate somewhere else. Or if she defecates in or near her hide, SHE moves somewhere else. Q doesn't seem to care. She will go wherever she happens to be and doesn't seem to mind being close to it. My BP, Monty often urinates AND defecates in his favorite hide.

Yes Andrea, snakes can shed in quick succession if injured or something, however young snakes also often have close-together sheds as they are growing due to growth spurts, just like young children have growth spurts.

I've had mine shed as close together as three weeks, and as far apart as six weeks. Mine are still pretty young, and definitely go through growth spurts. As far as pooping in the hide, they've all done it...corns and children's python. Spectre used to be very good at avoiding getting into his poop no matter where it was, but as he's grown and the poops have gotten larger and grosser, he seems more likely to slither very close to them....probably just because he knows I'm watching in horror and saying, "No, ewww! Don't go there! Let me clean that up first! YUCK!
" He probably likes the show ![]() None of the other snakes has ever seemed to even notice that there was a poop nearby.
