Well, I think then that one of the beginner species mentioned would suit you best,. I'm not too knowledgable on skinks, perhaps someone who owns them can chime in here?

If you are serious about frequent handling you should stick to Bearded Dragons. Almost all other species of lizards will run at some point or another and they are fast. Bearides seem content to latch on to you and hold on for hours. Even my Sudan Plated that sits on my shoulder will decide to jump off every now and then.

The way I see it, keeping most reptiles is more like keeping fish than say a hamster or something, cause the vast majority are "look, but don't touch" species. There's a very small % that will tolerate being handled, and the bearded dragon and leopard gecko are the top 2 in this slot, plus they're both excellent beginner species. If neither of these is right for you, I'd say wait till you can afford one too.
The same is true for small to medium arboreal snakes that will tolerate frequent handling. That's a tough order. Most that will tolerate handling are either terrestrial or rather large snakes. Most that are arboreal are not that great for handling. And most that are small are either terrestrial and/or not fond of human contact. I'd stick with your decision to wait a bit till you can afford the right kind of lizard you're looking for. Either that, or alter what you really want to get out of this lizard.

i know there arent many arboreal snakes that will tolerate handling, i forgot to put that if I got an arboreal snake it would be to look at
i know a lot about snakes, but near nothing about most lizards (except the ones that I want to get )im thinking deeply into getting either a gopher snake or a cal. king, if I want something to handle. if not then ill probably get a water snake
