Basilisk and Chinese water dragons - mating

I recently purchased a Chinese Water Dragon that was in really bad shape. I felt bad for her, brought her home, and my basilisk(buddy) fell in love with her. They obviously are both smitten because I caught them mating several times. My question; can they do that? i didn't think they would mate, and I am worried that something bad may come from this. Will she get pregnant, and if so can she have the babies? I am very confused, so could someone maybe look into that for me.
Thanks
Tyna

its not good practise to keep sick aniimals with other in the first place, ive heard of them being put together before but I wouldnt suggest it. WD's deal with stress very badly and its most lickely she is not volontaraly mateing eather.

I doubt you will have a successful breeding, however, animals of many species arent too picky about who or what they mate with. Just think of dogs and legs. Ive caught my turtle courting fish and humping rocks. Males of all species only have 1 thing on their mind.

Well...if she is allowing him to mate with her, then you're going to need to set up an egg box for her to lay in, and soon. She will lay eggs, even if they aren't fertile.

Now, people have kept WDs and Basks together in the past, and no one has EVER reported a successful hybridization.
But since someone started crossing kings and corns, and now someone else just hatched a woma/carpet python, you might as well go ahead and incubate the eggs...and see what happens.

Because it's become clear that when it comes to reptiles...you never know.
Step up the calcium, and feed, feed, feed--you want to get more weight on her, if she wasn't well a short while back. She'll slow down and may even stop eating as she gets close to laying, as the eggs will put pressure on her stomach.

You should have put the WD in quarentine. You risked your basilisk's health putting them together

Yes, I do think it's important to point out the risk to both animals' health--but now that it's done, you have to deal with the consequences.

Well

Water dragons as some have said are so easily stressed and if she is in that bad of a condition than should be housed diffrent they as I believe are not both water dragons so maybe need diffrent care?

Like their appearance, their care is very similar. However, I wouldn't put the sick one in with your other one either. That said though, you shouldn't have to worry about any eggs. Basilisks are iguanids and water dragons are agamids. That'd be like a green ig breeding with a Bearded Dragon.
