Make sure its warm enough (duh!) and that where you are taking them has not been treated with any sort of chemical (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer or anything else dumped on the ground). Be careful that you are in constant control of them making sure there are no holes or burrows that they can go into or trees and shrubs they can climb into and get lost. Don't lay them down on the ground and walk away! Watch out for other animals, dogs, cats, etc. that might want to make a meal of your snake. Be particularly watchful of the sky. There are a number of birds that could quickly swoop down and have your pet.
Be aware that the snake can pick up parasites outside.
Now a word in general from another direction. Whenever you have your snake outside pay attention to any other people around you. The very sight of a snake is enough to frighten some people. Give them all the room you can! Do not approach them and DO NOT try to scare someone with your snake. Not only are you in danger of having your snake confiscated, if the person is frightened enough you can actually cause them physical harm. I am aware of a lawsuit involving a person that became so frightened when confronted by a person with a large constrictor that they had a heart attack and are suing the owner of the snake. And they will win! If someone approaches you and shows interest you can if you chose allow them to touch the snake with an admonition to immediatly wash their hands. DO NOT just hand them the snake! If they are bitten its YOUR responsibilty. And if the snake startles them there is a very good possibilty that a non herper may fling the snake away from them, injuring it!
Remember that when you are outside and around others that you are a representative of all herpers and behave responsibly. Lets not give the factions trying to make it illegal to keep reptiles any more ammunition than they already have!
