There could of been some little bits of skin left over that you didn't notice, sometimes the skin looks all one piece but some can be left behind, a 10 minute soak will do the trick then let him slide through a towel, put about 2 inches of water in a rubbermaid, then put Fletcher in and place on the lid , leave him about 10 to 15 mins.. if it is left over shed which is likely, it will slide off with the towel.

Room temperature warm, don't have it hot, he will burn, like you would for a new baby, test it with your elbow, you should be able to feel warmth with your hand but not your elbow, thats the best I can describe.

Feeder tub wont be a problem, does it have air holes, its not air tight is it?

As Donna said a bath will do him the world of good, and an occasional bath will also help hydrate. Don't worry about him freaking out - many snakes enjoy a swim, and if he does freak out a bit at first just leave him, he'll calm down and get used to it.

The little bits of skin left behind won't pose a problem, but if he ever has skin left particularly on his eyes or tail area you need to give him regular baths as unshed skin can be a bad thing.
