It's Been a Long Time...new Herp in the House...daughter Will Need Help!

Well, it's been a really long time since I've posted at Herp Center....haven't since we had to give my 4 beautiful snakes away (Oh jeez, I still do miss them )...anyway, my daughter just "inherited" a bearded dragon from our next door neighbor's very young son, who has lost interest *sigh*. This dragon is a couple of years old and has been fed pretty much nothing but dried mealworms, dried crickets and iceberg lettuce. I'm also sure she hasn't had the right kind of light. She's incredibly fat, and desperately needs more space, which we'll soon be supplying her with. Anyway, my daughter will post more details in the bearded dragon forum soon, including photos and requests for advice from experienced bearded dragon owners. I'm hoping that some of you here might remember me and will help my daughter, whose username is Hedgie. I have absolutely no experience with lizards.

Thank you so much! I've missed my friends here at Herp Center.

Welcome back to the site! Sounds like your daughter is a lucky girl to have inherited a bearded dragon and it sounds like the dragon is in need of her help. Poor girl, deserves to have a good healthy life and it's nice to know that your daughter has taken on this responsibility. It definitely rewarding to know that you can help a reptile in need of love! Good on her for doing this! Looking forward to meeting your daughter and helping her out in any way that we can. Thats what were here for!

Here is a picture of my girl, she is the best!

Welcome back to the site I've kept Bearded Dragons for years and its really simple if you want it to be, can be just as simple as crickets 1 day, romaine lettuce the next, and so on. I've found Bearded Dragons to be relatively hardy creatures so I'm confident you can turn around the fortunes of the girl you've gained
Also I'm not sure this would be good advice considering you have only just got the Bearded Dragon but mine always seemed happier in pairs and i think it makes them a lot more fun to watch when they interact with each other and spend their days using each other as sun loungers ha

Hey welcome back. Why did you have to get rid of your snakes?
Just because you have an animal that isnt dead doesnt mean you know how to take care of it

Because between the rats in the freezer (which were getting larger and larger as the snakes grew) and the stinky twice a week poos (they were normal poos, but my husband seem to be extremely sensitive to their odor. I didn't think they were so bad, and always cleaned them right up. Even so, he thought they reeked) , there was a lot of marital strife going on in my house. My husband seemed to resent them horribly He didn't hate them, and actually thought they were cool, but didn't seem to want them living in his house.

I almost cried last night when I posted here for the first time in years and saw that Ky-Lin's picture is still my avatar. She was such a beautiful girl.

Oh wow I am so sorry. That sucks big time. Marriage is a compromise I guess. I am trying to say the right thing here, but failing miserably.
Is it okay of I "growl" at the husband? LOL

    LOL! Welcome back Juliane!
Is your husband not going to grouse about the smell of daily dragon poop?
