There is a pet store that kinda just opened that keeps all of the reptile on cedar chips. About a month ago, I informed the owner that this was toxic to the reptiles, and I recommended the use of newspaper or indoor outdoor carpet as an alternative. Well, a few weeks later I check back and the reptiles are still on the cedar chips. Only this time, they have a few empty aquariums with indoor outdoor carpet. The owner of the store moved the two leopard gecko's out of the cedar while I was there and promised that he would move all of the reptiles off of the cedar chips by the next day. Today, I go to the store, about a month since the first time I visited, and the same leopard geckos that had been moved off the cedar the last time I visited were back in the cedar chips and right next to them was the empty aquarium with indoor outdoor carpet. Obviously, he had moved the gecko's right back onto the cedar substrate immediately after I left the store. The leopard gecko's are the darkest color I've ever seen. I suspect this is a result of the cedar poisoning. They also have snakes and water dragons and some other lizards on cedar substrate. In addition to deliberately poisoning the reptiles, the store smells terrible and always has flys everywhere. It is disgusting and this place needs to be closed down. Does anyone know a number I could call to report them?

Contact your local fish and game dept. They also do exotic animal permits.

I don't know but I would go find something online or in a Book and bring it to them and show them where it says that the Cedar chips are bad for them. Maybe he'll realize that he is int he wrong. BTW where is this Pet Store?
