1. I would be inclined to answer yes to this question - I believe that reptiles get to know their owner, just as any other animal does, only they do so by different senses. Since taste and smell are the strongest of the snakes' senses, they learn to know us through these rather than other senses.
2. Most definately! Snakes have quite poor eyesight anyway, and when they are in shed they are almost blind. They are much more likely to strike or bite out of defence because one of their lesser senses has been decreased even more.
