Re: Any Regrets?
I have never bought any snakes, however I have taken in a few that have made me think twice about why I took them, lol. I have one here now that is really really mean. He strikes at you when you walk by his cage. He is horrible, lol. I don't regret taking him in, I just have to tell myself why I did it as he continues to bite over and over.

Re: Any Regrets?
I've never bought a snake either and I've had quite a few come through my home. I've been very fortunate though. All the larger snakes have been very easy to manage. My sassy one has been the smaller hognose.

Re: Any Regrets?
Only one regret. I kept a ball python eons ago and found out last year that I was keeping it badly. Everything was wrong and I still feel horrible.
But years ago there were no resources like we have now. That was before the internet, lol. Man now I sound really old. lol

Re: Any Regrets?
Only 1. He was the prettiest Okeetee I have ever seen and was going to be the "star" of my breeders. Unfortunately the thing bit constantly. No matter how much I worked with him he would not stop biting. It was so bad we named him Sid Vicious. After 3 or 4 months of constant scabs on my hands I finally sold him.

Re: Any Regrets?
Hmmm, I'm thinking of getting a Columbian Red-tail Boa. I wouldn't want a bite from a 6 footer!

Very easy to manage if they're raised right from babies. I adopted out an absolute sweetheart not too long ago. She had done at least one school program with me. She even made her picture in the paper. Now I've got a common boa and he's even easier to handle than she was. He's even bigger by just over 4'. Whoever had them as babies did wonderful jobs with them both.
Bites are not top on my priority from a large snake either. I prefer to remain pain-free and all my blood remaining in my veins.

It only hurts for a second. lol My neighbor got nailed by my 5.5 footer when she decided to ignore my warning about reaching for her head while she was in shed. She reached anyways, got nailed, and then got nailed a second time on her shirt before she had time to even react.
The initial bite left small, bleeding puncture wounds in her hand, but nothing as serious as you may think it would be.
When I first got this girl she had a URI and was constantly gaping. I had her on the couch after one of her shots and got a chomp on my inner bicep. I think it was accidental and she just happened to gap as she was near my arm. None-the-less it drew blood, but it was more shocking than it was painful.
