Re: Pics of My Background Wall Half Finished

when you go to silicone and EE, wrap them up in sammich bags with a twist tie around each one. That will keep them clean.

Dammit, you are making me want to build!!!

Not too much at all ~ I am really impressed! Good thing my hermit crabs can't see it, they might try to escape and head for your place

Re: Pics of My Background Wall Half Finished

lol thanks so much EVERONE! I think that is a good idea to use baggies over the flowers. I added some hooks to hang the vines and things later. I have to be careful not to cover them up haha when I silicone =) It is really fun to build this. I can't wait to finish and see how the crabs enjoy it..but then again I will want to do the next tank...maybe my newt next! haha I can't afford too many like this I spent more then I set aside, but in the end it will be worth it.

I'll post more pics soon. I plan on epoxy seal on Saturday and then when that dries, I guess I should try to wash it when dried before doing the silicone and EE...but maybe I can just wipe it down...The tank is so heavy I am not sure I will be able to move it outside to hose it down =) Does the epoxy need to be cleaned when it dries or will it be safe as is? I worry especially with the pools...I didn't want to risk getting any residue in the water.

uh-oh. You have the itch. Now you understand my dilema. Too bad there isn't a profit to have from this.

Get someone help you move it. I would hate for you to drop it after all that work.

Re: Pics of My Background Wall Half Finished

Just an update. I have been working in the evenings little at a time on the last step on sealing with EE. it is the hardest part...very annoying lol...itisn't that bad I am just sore haha. I wrpped the flowers in suran wrap which worked for the most part. I have trouble getting some parts, but I have help and i keep trying. I had to run out today and get more silicone. I used 4 so far and bought 2 more...which would be plenty.I looks really good. I keep missing some spots cause the EE gets all over the glove with the silicone I am applying and it makes a huge mess =) I am on my last glove! I am hoping I can do the last part with one left. I am past the hardest spots (except for a spot I have to add to) so I should be able to get away with one glove. I can't wait to show pics! I wanted to wait till I was finished so i don't get the silicone on my camera. I have ruined so many clothes until I finally decided to just keep on the worst ones for the tank. I kept thinking no I won't get messy, I'll be extra careful. WRONG! So it is coming along. I plan on letting it dry for a week before getting it ready for the crabs.

I am busy this weekend anyways so I don't have that kind of time to move the tank and get the fish set up in the old crab tank..plus check for leaks...that is going to be rough! Talk to you later, bye.
