Suriname or Common

Hi just curious,

How can I tell if my boa is a common red tail or a suriname red tail? Are there even any differances? If any one could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Suriname or Common

A good pic could do the job but Colombain boas are very varible and can look alot like animals from the Surinam/Gahna regions. One of my Colombians has markings very simmular to the surinams but is somewhat darker in color with a lees vibrant red in the tail. Though the Ivory or yellowish coloration is usally a dead giveaway.

Re: Suriname or Common

Great looking Boa. Based on the coloration I would say it's Common Boa, most likely a colombian or a mix there from. Off the saddle count I would also state that it looks to be the sub species Imperator or a cross of Imperator and Constrictor, there not uncommon to find at most pet stores. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You have a beautiful snake there.

Re: Suriname or Common

Definitely agree with titus... not a Suriname, just a common columbian. Very pretty one! Nice snake!
