Re: Freezing!

Anna,
Sounds like you have electricity? If so heat some hot water and put in hot water bottles, wrapp with towels and buddle every up in towels or pillow case.

I have these big styrofoam coolers that I put 4 holes in that I could bag my snakes and use reptile heating pads or hot water bottles wrapped in towels. I set this up incase I loose power. I have a BBQ grill to heat water on. I also bought from the The Bean Farm 40 hour reptile heat pads. They will ship to you if you can not get them locally.

I also use old IV bags of fluid that I put food coloring in and you can heat in the microwave for up to 5 min, then wrap towels around and snuggle them away.

I have this stuff ready incase of a power outage. Hope I helped a little, atleast for the next disaster and hope everyone survived!!

Which of course I didn't figure out until I mentioned it this afternoon adn the men said "your heat's not on??" So around 5 they said "well, it's on, now" so I didn't think about it, figuring it would take a bit to come back on anyway. But by 7...nothing...and we fiddled with every nob we could find for a while, and finally got a hold of them agian...and back he came...
Right now, temps are not super, but okay. Lefty is staying in his fleece covered hut, Rex found the highest spot in his tank to sleep - directly under the night bulb, and turtles are under a 100W red night. I covered them and their light with a towel, and am boiling water for some bottles for lefty and also turtles.

Thanks for the thoughts. Right now the prognosis isn't good "looks like the registers might be frozen"

Keep us in your thoughts!
-Anna

Re: Freezing!

Hi AnnaRW,
How stressful for you and your pets.
I hope that by now, the heat is all sorted out and things will get back to normal really soon.
It is quite warm here, being summer in Western Australia, and a cool break would be nice.
All the best!
Catz
