Re: someone help me decide please

I was just wondering if she was a sister or what... = ) me being curious.

Being 15 as long as you are willing to help her learn how to take care, and she's gonna be willing to put time in with the animal pretty much everything you listed would be ok.
First thing to find out would be what she is looking for. if she wants something that can be held then a Leo or WD would be a good choice. If she wants something thats just gonna stay in the tank and look cool, the Anoles or Salamander would be good. I don't know much about the mud turtle or the golden gecko but I know that some geckos can be aggressive and are not good pets for someone that is inexperienced. Have you thought about any frogs or snakes?

Re: someone help me decide please

I would NOT advise a water dragon as her first herp, especially with her being so young. The dragon is going to be around still when she decides to go off to college or move out and things like that could lead to her having to part with it, which can be devastating. A leopard gecko, anoles, golden gecko or something more compact would be more suited in the long run to living in a tiny campus apartment and they are much easier to move than the enormous cage a Chinese Water Dragon will need.

Re: someone help me decide please

I agree with Lacey. Please also remember that she has to be able to afford the animal. She has to have the money, not only for it and the enclosure, but for food, lighting, vet visits, etc. Water Dragons are pretty expensive animals with VERY specific needs.

For her first herp, a leopard gecko or an anole would be her best bet. Their enclosures are smaller, and they themselves are easier to maintain, and have a shorter lifespan.

Re: someone help me decide please

well she is my sister, and the animal will be kept at my house and she comes over every weekend, so thats when she would attempt to take care of it. also keep in mind that I have a Anole, and a Leopard Gecko, so I was thinking that mayne something I didnt have would be good for her since like I said I dont have them, do you agree.
