Moving Help

Hi everyone, We're back....

Anyway Iggie & I are moving out of my parents house (finally). My concern is that is has taken me 2 weeks to get almost done and poor Iggie is now stressed I thought that I should wait until I could get all of our room moved before I took her over, but with split days off & 2:30-10:30pm shifts it taking longer than I thought.
Also I cant make her basking and sleeping etc. area's like they are now. Her basking area is the only one thats ok. Is this something thats important ?
Iv'e not moved with her except when I got her 7yrs ago so I really dont know what I should do.

Im so stressed over this move with Iggie, I know its not helping her.

Oh I also forgot to mention..... I'm going to be a Grandma around Dec. 19, and I moved my 18yr old daughter in with me as well.

Maybe that will explain why I am

Suggestions needed ASAP PLEASE

Natalie & Iggie

Re: Moving Help

I'll be in your boat soon Nat...I'm moving soon (waiting for an opening at a specific apartment complex)

We are going to have to rebuild Dizzy's enclosure because the one he has is too small for him, but it is so large we can't get it out of the house without knocking out a wall.

He's pretty resilient though, we figure he'll be fine with a basking area in the new bathroom until we can get everything all set up...

I don't really have any good advice, because I haven't been through it yet, but i'll be rechecking this thread for advice for myself once we get things underway!

Re: Moving Help

Gil's been through about 5 moves now. I think that we've been able to keep the same enclosure each time (except the last) has really helped.

It's important to remember that any deviation from the "normal" routine will cause stress. BUT time with you, even just a bit at bedtime to give a good scritch will help soothe nerves.

If Iggie is used to being a free roamer (and it sounds like she is), then you'll want to move her to the new place when you have a stretch of time that you'll be present. This will help her comfort level, and it will also allow her to explore her new surroundings under your watchful eye.

It will take several weeks for her to settle in and feel comfortable, so in the meantime try to keep the routine as "routine" as possible.

Good luck and do keep us posted!
