Exo Terra fogger - question re: operation

Howdy all,

Just wanted to know from anyone else who may have one of these units, do they have their own on off cycle? Ie: do they run for a bit, then shut down and start back up again on their own?

I just picked one up for the cage I am building, and not being familiar with the unit personally, I just wanted to know if the on off cycling was normal, or did I get a hooped one?

Re: Exo Terra fogger - question re: operation

the on off cycle is normal for the unit. the only problem we had with ours was something in the cord went bad. It may have been kitty teeth (oops). She has a habit of sticking her teeth where they don't belong. My niece moved back to her parents, and took said kitty with her.

Glad to hear it! We have a cat as well, as five Ferrets who seem to think they should taste test everything for us

Re: Exo Terra fogger - question re: operation

For those who have used it, Is it good, Bad? I have a Chameleon that needs a good misting for water. I need something that will produce a dew like setting. This seems to be ideal because Chameleons in the wild lick the dew off leaves in the A.M.. They wont drink from a bowl and need both frequent misting and a dripper system.
It sounds like the fogger system will solve everything.
It would be Ideal if I could have a setup that is foggy, Dewy, Humid in the A.M.(For drinking) and then a gradual drying during the day.
Chams in the wild have a dewy, wet, moist period in the mornings(This is what I'm trying to replicate) They drink the dew. They don't go down to rivers and streams to drink.

I left this one run for a short while in in a mug of water in the kitchen, and I was surprised by how much water was thrown around buy this little unit, in such a short time.

I think I will be taking a piece of advice I read of the net regarding these units, and will use it in a closed to container (ie: small Rubbermaid container for lunch boxes ect.) and just cut away enough of the top to permit the fog to roll out, while keeping some of the splashing down and under control.
