antibacterial soap dangerous? Clean with what?

hear that Antibacterial soap is dangerous, anyone know if this is true and why? What does everyone clean their enclosure and accessories with? What about vinegar and water? Or just plane soap and water?

So I finally got a 23 gallon for Skittles and bleached the **** out of it. I put a couple parts bleach to a lot of parts hot hot water and washed the inside and outside. Then I poured that out and poured another bunch of hot water in and washed the inside and outside and poured that out. Then I got tired of doing that so got the hose and sprayed the inside and outside with water and poured that out. It still smelled like bleach so I sprayed it...poured it...sprayed it...poured it...It's outside drying on the balcony and it still smells like bleach. So I'm guessing everyone doesn't do this on a weekly basis, so what do you use? I was using antibacterial soap for the substrate but now I hear 'it's poisonous and can kill your gecko'. This was not backed up with any evidence whatsoever, just yelling.

I use lysol when cleaning the cricket tank. I think it rinses really well.

ok so I heard dish detergent was dangerous...and if you do put a diluted version of it around the outline of ur house it does kill bugs...And I figured maybe something that kills the Leopard Geckos food shouldnt be put near the leo...but bleach is way worse...so maybe the solution is a good rinsing?

I've washed my tanks with dish soap, as long as you rinse well you shouldnt have an issue. Bleach and water mix is best.

Thanks, thats what I wanted to hear...there's a bunch of brats on another forum that have me rather paranoid. They rant things will kill your gecko dead with no explanations.

I have done dish soap as well. A good rinsing is all it needs. I mean think of it this way, we are told to wash our hands with antibacterial soap before handling our critters. Why would washing the tank in that same soap then cause a problem?

I have always used a diluted bleach mixture. Just rinse well and you should have no problems. I never have.
