Hey. I posted this on the other site herp habitats as well but I didn't get any replies yet so I thought I would try here. i used acyrilic latex pearl enamel paint. i left the cage outside to air out and then brought it in the house. the fumes were gone when I first brought it in but when I warmed up the cage the fumes came back. luckily enough I thought about that happenning and didn't put my ig in there yet. i put two bowls with baking soda in it and it seems to do very little. i also have the doors open and now it doesn't smell like there is much at all but it might just be me getting used to the smell cause my sister just went there and said that it was still smelling like paint fumes. i also have the doors open. if anyone knows a great way to get rid of paint fumes please let me know ASAP. i really need him out of his cage he is in now but I don't want him to die from the fumes in his new one. his old one is too small for him so I would really like to get him into his new one right away. i will put a air filter right next to the cage and see if that helps. oh and it has been about 2 days since I painted. please let me know how I can do this. thanks,

I would maybe let it air for a few more days. Bring someone over and ask them if they smell it. That may clarify if you are just used to the smell. Good luck!!

Baking soda and air filters will do nothing but maybe absorb a bit of odor. It will not remove fumes from the air. Put the heating equipment inside and bring the internal temperatures up. This will cause the paint to cure faster. It sometimes takes several days for paint to completely cure and stop smelling particularly if the ambient temperature is low or the humidity high.

okay thanks. the lights and heating is on. and the doors are open. with the doors closed the humidity is 50 percent, without spraying. so I wont' spray it and I will close the doors and leave it for a couple of days. thanks.
