lowes or home depot will cut the tile for you for free. Or so many pieces free. then maybe 25 cents or 10 cents a cut after that.

You may look around the tile area, I know lowes herehas old tiles, and they were like 25 cents each compared to 1.25 for some. They may have broken ones you can get cheap too.

well, I went to home depot today and the guy wasn't too helpful. he probably thought I was somelunatic asking about this out of this worl size tile lol...he said that they do not have the 30 in * 12 in whole piece or spare pieces for cheap...so just the $1>> so priced tile...which I can probably do...so now I just need to get the right amount and sizes to fit it.

what size of tank? I could figure the sizes youll need for you if youd like. Also Tile only comes in 12*12 is the largest. 4x4 6x6 8x8 12x12 thats the most common sizes.

make sure NOT to get the tile that you can snap in half urself...it obtains asbestos. None of the tile should contain any glues or anything. Ceramic and Slate are safe. I just got the 1 by 1 foot tiles and got a tile cutter to chop about a cm off one end of one. You might want to just git 2 regular tiles and a couple mini tiles or do the tile cutting thing. I'd recommend putting something in the corners to keep the worms out I just stuffed paper towel in there for now but u can do whatever. Good luck! And Merry christmas and happy new years!

Asbestos is used everywhere. in the tile you speak of its called VTX. its mainly used in schools. The ONLY way to get the asbestos out of that tile. is to grind it in to a fine powder. Breaking it will not. Asbestos may be banned but its still used. But I wouldnt use it in the cage cause it has to be waxed. And the fact it will just look ugly. The peal and stick tile I wouldnt use either for the fact of glue.
you will only need 3 total tiles if I did my math right. 2 at 12 inches and one at 6 inches. But make sure they are an 8th inch shorter so they will fit.

yeah your math is correct, or I could do 10 6*6 or something...but I will have to do cutting no matter what so I am going to get my fiance to do it if I can get him motivated...I was thinking of sealing the cracks and corners with some sort of seal that isn't harmful>any ideas?

it wasn't that hard...the ceramic tile cutter anyway...I bought a contraption that you just roll back and forth over the tile and then you snap...I managed to do one I'm sure you could:P Some stores offer to do it themselves so you might want to check that out. Keep in mind though that the glue that they use in the bottom of aquariums to keep the glass together takes up some room too so make sure you measure it right...mine was (I thought) exactly 24 inches wide but I ended up getting rid of about a cm.
