cold weather transport

I have to transport a snake tomorrow (he is going to a new owner who is one of my friends from school and a breeder). Problem is the forcast says 20 degrees tomorrow morning and I have to wait 10 minutes for the bus. I suppose I can put him and his container inside my jacket but I dunno how well that would work. Any tips? Will 10-15 minutes exposure cause harm to him? Is it safe to use those glove warmer things as long as he doesnt come into direct contact with them? Should I just wait for warmer weather? He is a ball python and being transferred in a pillowcase inside a tupperware container with holes on it.

Are you shipping or delivering. How big is the python?

Delivering-he is going to school with me, being kept in a nice heated classroom, and then picked up by the other kid who is in one of my classes at the end of the day and taken home by him. hes about 3-4ft long id estimate, prob a bit under that, hes small compared to the one the school owns and I dunno why, i feed him plenty I guess hes just a shrimp lol.

LOL...I was just asking size cause you could stick the pillow case in your pocket if small enough...but..a hand warmer should be fine as long as it doesnt come in contact with the python. Put him in the pillow case then lay a towel or dish towel in the tupperware with the heat pack, that should be sufficient until you get to school.

ok, so the 10 minutes exposure to the cold as long as he has the theating packs wont hurt him then? Part of the reason I am giving him away is that I dont have the time or money for what he deserves as far as upkeep, and this kid does. The snake's safety is of a big concern.

Oh and make sure you wrap something around the container (like a towel) also to keep the cold from getting into the airholes

That will work, I just transported all of our kids to an expo last Thursday, using hand warmers, I also put the heating pads I had just turned off in the transport boxes.

Just for future reference another good way to transport is to use a styrofoam ice chest.
