You got it. Bp's can weeks without eating and they are very finiky, lol. My ball pythons have to have the mouse very warm or they wont eat it. I also have to do the mouse *dance* so that they will strike at it.

hey I knew it was a BP...

told ya guys the avatar threw me...lol

ok...crickets are def outta the question. You mite want to leave a live pink in there. A live prey item might make it eat. Maybe also leave the room...it might be nervouse to eat while a HUGE giant with feeding tongs is looking down at it ( well thats how I would feel being that smalllol)

you can also try braining the pink/fluff. When was the last time it ate? and please never force feed it!

oh yes... to get it warm...yeah you can defrost them in warm/hot water...

How do you thaw your rodents?

ball pythons like most python species have heat sensing organs on their lips...they can "see" heat. So a warm prey item might trigger a feeding response.

Make sure it's not super hot though...I once had a frozen pinkie break open from the extreme heat change...Yuck I had better luck using very warm water, then when the water got cold, pouring out the cold water, putting new warm water in, and so on repeating that process until the pinkie was thawed all the way (you'll know when it seems warm and squishy in the middle when you gently squeeze it).

And never try to thaw one in the microwave...I've heard stories about the horrible things that happen when someone tries that

If you use the defrost on Low you can, but wouldnt be a wise idea.... Hot water, heat lamp, works the best.

Even if the pinkie didn't blow up because it was on defrost, I'd be too afraid of hot spots inside it...microwaves are notorious for heating unevenly (or defrosting unevenly...sometimes even on low defrost, parts of the meat I'm thawing will be a lot warmer than the rest)...

I'd hate to injure my snake my offering a pinkie that was too hot somewhere inside...as you said, hot water or a heat lamp are much better choices...

The last time he ate was last week, but the vet did that with a tube because he was so underweight. I thaw mine in warm water.

well yeah you cut into its head with a blade of some sort... split its head open. Have you tried making it bleed again...if it worked once why not again lol...

i am really glad you have taken it to a vet shame poor snake..but a feeding pump will still stress the snake out alot! stress kills... try out the methods we have discussed..and not too quickly after eachother

good luck and keep us posted.
