I know that my ig does the same thing in the bath but when I leave him alone and don't stick my hand in the water he ends up relaxing and closing his eyes. As for the taming part of it I can't say because I have only had mine for a couple of months now so I don't really have too much of experience with that and mine is only 4 months old.

my biggest suggestion is repetition and consistency.
http://www.greenigsociety.org/freeroam.htm this site may help, it has a lot of good pointers that are a little more detailed than just conversing back and forth. Never forget that there is no way to "train" an iguana, and some will just never take to handling. A friend of mine has one that is 4 feet long and will not tolerate being picked up, however loves to be pet and fed by hand. The rescue I got mine from has two that free roam the office that are Enormous, they are like cats, it is clear that they want nothing to do with you, however if you don't annoy them, they just ignore you and go about their business of sitting and relaxingin their basking spots. They are highly variable in behavior and temperment, so basically those that have easily tamed iguanas are very lucky, mine took a lot of time and still tests the waters from time to time and tries to push me around, now he is big enough that I start to get nervous when he s agigtated, but he always seems to give up eventually. Good Luck, and as for the bath, give him space, don't leave him alone, but keep a fair dsitance till he gets used to it.
