stuff from petsolutions.com
Hi. I was wondering if anyone has tried the products off of this website? everything is cheaper buty I was wondering if they are reliable. Could someone check out www.petsolutions.com and let me know what they think? especially about the UVB bulbs. Specifically the one called Super UV coil bulb, it looks great and sounds great but does anyone know if that brand is realiable? The brand name is ESU REPTILE. another UVB bulb with greater wattage is the Super B Flood Lamp? is this one any better because of it having higher watts?

A coil bulb isn't going to put out enough UVB for your iguana. ESU is also a notoriously bad brand.
If you want quality you are going to have to pay for it. Iguana's may be cheap but their care is very expensive. It's something that alot of people don't realize when they buy this cute little 8 inch lizard for $10. About $700 later it starts to sink in. |

Hello,
In your other thread you stated you were going to spend $40.00 on the lights for your enclosure. For the same money, we told you where to go to get the best lighting on the market. (http://www.reptileuv.com) Here is another thread about lighting though as if we didn't respond to your other thread about lighting. I am a pretty nice guy and go out of my way to help people, but if we are going to be giving you advice, and you aren't going to listen to it, what exactly is the point of creating these threads? You even sent me a PM telling me you wanted to buy the best lighting and asked if I would respond with a suggestion. I did just that, and yet you are still looking for the cheapest possible solution bud. In all fairness to the iguana, if you can't afford to give it the required essentials, whatever they may cost, you should consider the option that an iguana may not be the best pet for you at this time. |

Trying to scrimp on supplies for your iguana may seem like a good idea but trust me,... it isn't.
Saving a few bucks on inadequate lighting for instance is not worth it when you consider the end result is going to be hundreds of dollars in vet bills due to the poor performance of shoddy equipment.

I knew how old you were Chris. (Your profile told me, lol.) Never appologize for asking questions. That is how you learn. When you ask the questions though, you need to take the advice. If you question the advice given, do more research on the topic. What type of spray are you using? One of the best calcium supplements on the market is the Rep-Cal - No D3 and No Phosphorus. It is a powder. I also like the Rep-Cal Herptivite as the vitamin supplement and it too is a powder. |

I too suggest using the powder supplements Rich mentioned. I never cared for the sprays. You never know if all the nutrients have settled to the bottom of the bottle and you are only spraying empty liquid. You can't see how much you are applying and since it is a liquid it may all end up running down into the bottom of the plate to be wasted.

ok. the thing with the powder is I have some of that too. but when I first tried it he wouldn't eat his food because he could taste the powder on his food. he didn't eat at all. i tried waiting and I waited for 2 weeks when I first got him and he still wouldn't eat it. i shake the bottle everytime I use it and I put the calcium spray into a clear spray bottle so I could see if it was mixed well or not. about the calcium spray going to the bottom of his food I don't know. i never really checked. i will try the calcium powder again. i still have some left. i will reply back later with the brand name of the stuff. thanks.
