We survived the fire, now what

Please, i need your guys help.
there was a fire in my appartment last night. everyone is ok, but me and my roomates are couch surfing untill they fix the place. which apparently could take up to a month. maybe evin two.
all I can say, is that it could have been so much worse.
one of my roomates and I were asleep when it happoned, the third was out for the night. the fire alarm woke us both up thank god, and litteraly I had time to locate my roomate, put on pants, grab my cell, and grab neitzsche before the appartment was completioly filled with smoke. you can realy learn alot about humans by how they act in instances like this. there was a big crowd, like, cops keeping people behind the yellow tape kind of deal, and my roomate and I were standing there, without jackets or evin SHOES on, shaking and crying, watching smoke billow out from our appartment, and all people were saying was "DUDE! CAN I TOUCH YOUR SNAKE?!?!" thankfully someone found a pillow case for him, i have no idea were they got it but I was too greatfull to ask, and a friend of mine put him in his appartment were it would be warm.
the fire department came and stopped the fire before it did any real damage, it actualy started at the tea shop we live above, most of the damage to our appartment is smoke and were they cut holes in the wall to controll it from coming up the pipes.
the problem I have now is
1, making sure he drinks, i havent actualy seen him drink since the fire, and I know he inhailed as much smoke as I did, which was ALOT,
2 making sure he doesnt go into shock from the stress, he seems to be doing allright, i'm trying to leave him alone as much as possable, he spent the night in the pillow case as I didnt have anywere to put him, but right now he's checking out the loaner tank so i'm hoping all is well,
3 getting the smoke out of his cage. they did let us go back in to get some things, and I grabbed his tank, but there was so much smoke in it that there's no way he can live in it. the girls from work (petsmart) let me borrow a 55 gallon untill I figure out what to do with mine, and I have him on paper towels and he has fresh water.
what can I use to get the smoke out of his tank? like... the glass was grayed from from all the smoke. i got some "simply green" but the friend im staying with told me not to use it as he uses it to strip acrilic paint.

i know this is long and ranty and I uppologise but honestly I am so freaked out right now... we have NOTHING, and Nietch is the only reason i've been able to stay as calm as I have and I NEED him to be ok. please help,
D

What an awful way to wake up! I'm glad everybody got out ok! It could have been much worse.

The snake will drink when it gets thirsty, you can't make him drink. Just keep an eye on him for the next few days.
Not having been in this situation I can't help with the smoke on the glass but you might try vinegar water or dawn dishwashing liquid.

Oh I think that waking up to your place being on fire duly qualifies you as deserving of a panicked rant!
I know I wouldn't take it well either!
