Escape!

I had that minor escape scare with Dyna but today I had my first actual reptile escape.

I went to give my Bearded Dragons some veggies this morning... and Maia was sitting there all happy and anticipating. I searched for Molly cause sometimes I have to wiggle some veggies in front of her nose for her to be interested..
And I'm looking in her favorite spots, and she's not there. I've searching everywhere .. and nothing..

I FREAKED OUT!
My sister has a CAT!!

I start looking under the bed, and behind things.. nothing. I turn everything upside down.. nothing.
I search the laundry room, nothing. I give up.. go back to my room nothing. I'm worried out of my miiiind!
About 15 minutes later, I heard Toby (the puppy) barking and whining....
He won't shut up even after I yell at him so I go upstairs and see that he's barking AT something. I look.. and Molly is in the corner.. terrified and puffed up!! I was SOO proud that he didn't hurt her!
He's the hero of the day! If he hadn't found her I would have NEVER thought to look upstairs!
It was absolutely terrifying. She probably got out sometime at night.. the weird part is that I have NO IDEA how..

Well i'm glad she turned up safe and sound, give Toby a treat for not eating her!

Also double check for ways she may have gotten out!

unless she climbed the plexi-glass I have NO IDEA.
The only idea I have is that she climbed one of her plants and from the plants jumped up and over the plexi glass. It seems like an impossible thing to do but I have already moved the plants to prevent further escapes!

I'm glad you found her unharmed. This could have turned out much worse! They can jump. Put a lid on that tank!

Definitely a lid. With a latch. Especially if there's a cat in the house.

Glad everyone is fine. What a good puppy!

Glad you found her safe and sound! And Joie, dont feel bad, yesterday I had my ferrets out upstairs(they are usually in the basement but I was showing them to friends) and Jack managed to fit into a little hole between the stove and cabinets, I thought we had lost him for good, we were looking everywhere for him in the kitchen and I turn around to see him walking down the stairs from the 3rd floor...hahaha...the first thing that left my mouth "how the **** did he manage that one...?"

Escape

Theres nothing than pulling the place apart.
I bought a adult Bearded Dragon that got out of its plastic tank with a secure lid that I thought was secure, jumped off a chair then jumped or fell out of the attic which is about 9 ft. I found it running around the landing and it was absolutly fine.
Sliding glass opening tanks works best with reptiles and a wooden or plastic wedge keeps the glass in place

the way my enclosure works is that there is a 1/2 inches open space where I can stick my fingers in and pull the plexiglass up.. she must have climbed the plant next to teh space and hopped it. I figure that moving the plant would fix the problem. When I build the enclosure I had Maia in mind (seeing as there was no MOlly at teh time) and Maia is WAY too big to get through the hole. So now to prevent future escapes I have moved the plant and have tape over the hole
