RES got loose outside

Hello,
We have an outside pond enclosed by a rock wall. We have been letting our turts roam to show us the spots that need fixed. Well last night while cleaning out the pond and enclosure one of our escape artists scaled the wall and got loose. Unfortunately it was discovered right as it got dark and after 30 mins of searching by flashlight we gave up. I have gone out today looking to see if he was sunning bot could not find him. Grumpy is one of the bigger RES at around 10 inches so he shouldn't be too hard to find.

Any suggestions on finding or luring him back home?

Thanks,
Ken and Dee

Do you have a fence around the area? Can he crawl through it? Make sure you have an enclosed area so if he is still there he will be in the area. After that you should try to give him some food that he likes and lure him out. If not search a lot. They can end up right under your nose.
Hope you find him!

Nope, No fence. The pond is enclosed with a rock wall and he managed to scale the wall. He is now out in the neighborhood roaming. We have a amall open field behind the house we have been searching and it is lined with row of trees and weeds, lots of hiding places. I'm just hoping he knows where home is and comes back when he is hungry. I know these turts are smarter then we give them credit for. I'm just hoping he can be out of water for such an extended time without too many issues.

Awww, I'm sorry Dee. I hope he turns up soon. I am currently looking for my runnaway gopher turtle who decided to venture from the yard when the lawn guys left the gate open... Keep us posted.
