Sounds like a possible respiratory infection....have you seen a vet? The only way to get rid of it would be with antibiotics....good luck and let us know how it goes.....

Yep sounds like RI, , till you can get an appontment with your vet, try to keep humidity right down and raise the temps in the viv, this should help some till you can get him seen.
good luck and keep us posted...

look at your humidity
it could be too high or to low or too unstable
which is a common cause of RI

Your humidity should be 50-60%

Your friend probably means pneumonia! And yes that is a very good analogy.
This sounds to me like your BP is in an advanced state of respiratory infection. In other words your snake is in serious trouble! The mucous and fluids are filling the lungs and making it difficult to breathe!
Raise the temps in the enclosure to 95F on the warm spot and call your vet! This requires antibiotics.
This is very serious and the quicker you act the better! If not treated quickly your snake could die.

Its possible but highly unlikely. It sounds like a RI to me.

Savannah-Just to clarify,... you are not saying that a snake could not die from a RI are you?

No, I was saying it prolly has a RI not pneumonia. Or is it considered the same thing? I have a friend whose snake had pneumonia not an RI, she said it was 2 different things, RI is more common I thought and Ive had snakes die from it when I worked at petco, I know all too well how bad RIs can be. Sorry for the confusion Merlin, I shoulda clarified what I was talking about.

No problem. I thought I knew where you were going with it but didn't want Ddakota to think that this was not a serious situation.
I had always heard RI and pneumonia used interchangeably. Since pneumonia results in the lungs filling with fluid and impeding breathing, for our purposes, its basically results in the same problem.
