Taking Pictures of Baby Chams?

Hello to all,

Got my 2 baby Veiled Chameleons today,

Now I normally wait a good while before taking pictures of my snakes,
I'm alittle hesitant on the new additions, they are so tiny approx 3 inches
& 2 inches long.
My main question, how much stress would I put on them if I were to take
pictures in about a week or so?
I have seen the pictures of Chams here but they were much larger / older.

If it is permissible, any suggestions on taking the pictures?
I.E. in the enclosure, outside the enclosure, lighting/flash, ect.

I will possibly wait until they are older to take any pictures outside the
enclosure as they move rather quickly at the moment, alot faster than I
experienced with older ones.

I thank you in advance for all your help and suggestions.

In the photography course I took a few years ago they discussed the matter of camera flash on newborn babies. The same is true with humans as it is with reptiles the younger they are usually the more pictures are taken. They were saying that it was not recommended to use flash photography when they were looking into the lens. There was a small possibility of retina damage from the bright flash. That probably is less of a concern with reptiles. But we know how easily Chams are stressed. I'd say if you need more light to compose the picture it would be less stressful to put an extra spotlight on the Chams rather than use the flash. Make sure you show us those pics when they're done.

I agree with Mike that pics, especially flash ones, can be stressful. I don't see that it would be a massiv eproblem for you to photograph them now though - just try to take a coupleof quickish shots and then leave them to settle.

I have baby chams coming this week also - and I already have tonnes of pics of them off the breeder

i take pics of my baby chams even as they pop out...lol

i use outside lighting as I find it the best(plus it brings out the darker clolrs in them). I also found the best time to take pics of baby chams that wanna run away is to put them on a pot plant or something and give them a spray....easy to take shots when they are drinking...i have posted this pic already I think but will show you what I mean(this cham is the same size as the one in the second pic)....also I will put one of my newborn bradypodion melanocephalum to show you size...

i can't wait to see your baby cham pics....snap away

Thank you for your suggestions, I just wanted to make sure not to stress
them too much.

I will certainly do the water drop trick and depending on our weather,
may try to get a couple pictures outside, it was beautiful today and they
sunned them selves well.

Now I have to wait to tomorrow to get the pictures as they are asleep now,
but I will post as soon as they are done.

Thank you again for your time.
